One evening I looked out the window
and saw this snake making his way up a tree in the back yard. He was kind enough to
hang around while we took several pictures of him. When he got tired of us he fell
to the ground and went on his way. He was a big one between 5' & 6' long.
There is a little snake in this part of Texas called a collared snake. It is
black with a white collar. It's under side can be bright salmon or yellow. I
don't know what makes the color change. This snake has a couple of cute
defensive maneuvers. It rolls over and plays dead and it hides it's head
under it's body and raises it's tail which then acts like it's head.
An armadillo on the run.
This little guy wandered in one afternoon.
This opossum was one of our late
night cat food snackers.
Here are a couple more.
They got to be such pests that we have to put the cat food
away every night.
Springtime is best for turkey viewing before the hens start setting.
Fall brings flocks of cranes to our fields and our resident squirrel returns to
gather acorns.
Robins in the December snow .
Rabbits and Cardinals and more birds bring winter cheer .
